Swimming lessons in Guernsey
Learning to swim is not only a healthy activity for children but living on an island, many view it as a necessary skill. After all, swimming is the only sport that can save your child’s life. Swimming lessons also benefit children in many ways, including improved stamina, better posture and balance, as well as healthy heart and lungs.
An ability to swim can also limit the other activities your child can participate in – such as kayaking, canoeing, scuba diving, surfing, sailing and triathlon.
Beau Sejour Swim School offers a range of classes suitable for all ages. The Discovery Duckling adult and child classes for children aged five months to three years, and Pre-School Little Paddler classes for children three years to school age, enable little ones to take their first step on the Swim England ‘Learn to Swim Pathway’, and provide a gentle introduction to water skills and safety. The extensive programme for school age children caters for all standards from beginners to advanced swimmers and follows the Swim England ‘Learn to Swim Pathway’. Beau Sejour Swim School is also home to its competitive squads – Beau Sejour Barracudas, who compete both locally, nationally, and internationally. The programme also offers adult group lessons for stroke improvement/advanced training sessions and one-to-one swimming lessons for those who find that group lessons are not suitable.
Waiting lists for school age children are currently extensive despite 200 classes per week. Children who participate in the preschool programme are given priority access to lessons when they start school so it’s worth registering for pre-school lessons early if you’re keen for your child to swim at a later age.
